How understanding
develops over time

Two programs can cover the same material and feel completely different underneath.

Progression is the shape of how new material arrives — often the reason a curriculum feels "too slow," "too jumpy," or "just right."

Mastery

Stay on a concept until it's fluent, then move on.

One topic at a time, fully, before the next.

You might notice:Your child feels steady finishing one idea completely before starting the next.

Revisit every topic multiple times, going deeper each pass.

Topics return, a little deeper each pass.

You might notice:Your child enjoys variety and remembers more when ideas come back around later.

A blended pace that borrows from both mastery and spiral.

Focus on the new, with planned review of the old.

You might notice:Your child does best with focused time on a new idea plus regular review of earlier ones.

No progression is better in every case, and not every curriculum within a model works the same way. The goal is the rhythm that fits your child.
